Lenzing review of 2008 |
 |
There’s no doubt that 2008 was an innovative year.
Three new fibers were launched on the market. MicroModal® AIR, Lenzing Modal® LOFT and ProModal®, the latest development from Lenzing. MicroModal® AIR is the lightest fiber and meant for use in ultra-fine knits for luxurious lingerie. LenzingModal® LOFT was specially developed for the hand towel sector. It is an appealing development due to its enormous bulking force which is of a long-lasting nature. The last innovation is a unique blend: Lenzing Modal® + TENCEL® = ProModal®. This fiber unites functionality with softness and guarantees exceptional wear comfort. The Botanic Symposiums, which took place around the world, are another notable entry in our diary. The very first one took place at the Botanic Gardens in Paris. The great success of this event encouraged us to continue the Symposium series to give our customers around the globe the chance to exchange experiences with
other colleagues and experts. In New York, China, Korea, Japan and last but not least, Brazil, many enthusiastic visitors flocked to our event. In addition to the symposium, they felt that the surrounding program was very successful. The "Lenzing Fabric Competition" was an excellent way to end this successful year. The fabrics submitted were exhibited in Korea, Japan and Taiwan at the respective trade fairs and were greeted with a great deal of interest by visitors. The winner of this competition will be announced in February.

ISPO 2009 - TENCEL® in comparison |
|
At ISPO in Munich, a infrared camera is used to demonstrate that TENCEL® offers optimum wear properties when combined with polyester.
A padded jacket filled with 100% polyester on one side and with a blend of TENCEL® and polyester on the other is heated on a doll and observed via the thermal camera. The side with the TENCEL®/polyester blend has a much better water vapor permeability and a higher thermal insulation, keeping the body both dry and warm.
